Ways to Donate to AACC

The AACC is a tax-exempt, 501(c)3 non-profit community organization. Donations are generally tax deductible, as permitted by the IRS. Our tax identification number is 38-1387132. There are many ways to support AACC in its effort to change lives and transform communities.

There are several federal tax incentives, specifically intended to encourage charitable contributions. These incentives often enable a supporter to make a larger gift at little or no additional cost. Here is a list of ways you can help the AACC:

  • Cash Gifts
  • Combined Federal Campaign
  • Employee Giving
  • Gifts of Securities
  • Gifts of Other Assets
  • Bequests
  • Cash Gifts

Writing a check to the AACC or donating money online with your credit card is generally tax-deductible and the simplest, most direct way to contribute. If you itemize your tax deductions, your gift to the AACC is generally fully deductible—up to 50% of your adjusted gross income. Any  excess may be carried forward for up to five additional years.

Combined Federal Campaign

Federal employees, including federal civilians, military personnel, and U.S. Postal Service workers, can donate to the AACC through the federal government's Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). The CFC is a once-a-year charitable fundraising program. If you are a federal employee, you may designate your donation to the AACC. Please look for the AACC, agency 81237, in the official CFC charitable organizations guide.

Employee Giving

Many employers will match your donation(s) to the AACC—dollar-for-dollar. Some companies match only a percentage of your gift. Check with your employer to see if your company has a matching donation program.

Gifts of Securities

Donating appreciated stock to the AACC benefits the donor and helps the AACC achieve its purpose and mission. The donor receives two tax-related benefits. First, the appreciated value of the donated stock is not subject to capital gains taxes. Second, the donor can deduct the fair market value of the stock as a charitable contribution (subject to IRS rules & regulations).

The AACC can sell the stock and put the money quickly to work to help programs and services. As a non-profit organization, we're also exempt from capital gains taxes. The net result: you can make a larger gift to the AACC because of the tax savings.

Gifts of Other Assets

The tax benefits of gifts of real property are similar to those of appreciated securities and in many cases apply to gifts of art, jewelry and other kinds of personal property. Interested donors should check with a financial and/or tax advisor and the AACC on the feasibility and tax considerations of such gifts.

Bequests

You can establish a legacy that will reflect your concern for the AACC, by including the AACC in your will or living trust. Bequests to the AACC are generally exempt from federal inheritance taxes, and subject to an unlimited deduction.

The simplest way is to add any of the following language to your will or living trust:

1. Percentage: I give the Ann Arbor Community Center, Inc., located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, ____ % of the residue of my estate (for the support of ______________ program) or (to establish the ____________________ fund) or (for its general purposes).

2. Dollar Amount: I give the Ann Arbor Community Center, Inc., located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the sum of $ ________ (for the support of ______________ program) or (to establish the ____________________ fund) or (for its general purposes).

3. Specific Property: I give to the Ann Arbor Community Center, Inc., located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, my interest in (describe the property and the exact location) (for the support of ______________ program) or (to establish the ____________________ fund) or (for its general purposes).

Please consult with us and your financial and/or tax advisor in selecting a program or
specific target for such a bequest.

We appreciate your interest in supporting the Ann Arbor Community Center!
